10 Easy Ways To Simplify Your Social Marketing Campaign

By on May 8, 2012

Marketing with social media can become all-encompassing and very complex. For the small business owner, it can easily become so time consuming and difficult that they give up before they can earn any profit from it! Today, I’m going to show you how to simplify your social marketing campaign, so that this doesn’t happen.

#1: Say Hello To Excel

If you don’t have a social management program, Excel can be the easiest way to keep track of your campaign progress. It helps to record EVERYTHING you do, so get into the habit now, before you lose track of what you’ve done, need to do, and shouldn’t do again!

#2: Use Some Tools

Manually posting and sharing can take an enormous amount of time – if you’re still doing it, stop! Use some great tools to speed up the process, like Hootsuite or Argyle Social.

#3: Use Less Tools!

If you find yourself overwhelmed by the amount of tools and programs that help you in your social marketing pursuits, then take a step back. Start again, and keep the essentials only. Stop using the ‘extras’ if there’s no good reason to use them.

#4: Plan Your Strategy

Most time wasting campaigns happen because people don’t bother to plan out their strategy at the beginning of each month. You’ll be surprised how much time you can save when you’ve planned your content beforehand, and how much time you have to do it in.

#5: Set Yourself Content Goals

Strange as it may seem, setting goals does simplify things. Check your analytics data and decide which platform needs the most content for the next week. Then set a content goal for yourself and focus on one main objective.

#6: Enforce a Schedule

Set time limits for yourself and enforce them. If you take too long on something – tough – move on, and finish it tomorrow in the allotted time.

#7: Use The Share Buttons on Your Blog

Instead of opening new tabs to share your blog content – use your social media sharing buttons directly on your page. It’ll make things go smoother and faster.

#8: Find What Works, and Work It!

If you’ve recently launched a social text marketing campaign, and it’s getting you loads more business or sales – that’s your queue to focus more on that. Everything else can wait.

#9: Stop Feeling Guilty

If you go missing from Facebook or Twitter for a few days, give yourself a break! You can’t be there all the time. Simplify things and market when you can, or outsource it.

#10: Reality Check

How much time are you spending speaking to people? A lot of the time it can be easy to forget that this is the primary function of social marketing. Posting, sharing, linking, reading and researching is only part of it – the ‘anti-social’ part. Make it fun again by sharing!
