By on June 20, 2011

Thought leaders rule the social media realm. Their business are the most successful, their blogs are read more often. Even their Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn pages bustle with a never ending supply of people, communication and interactivity. So here are 10 excellent tips on how to show your readers that you’re a thought leader.

Tip 1: Post Rare Information on Your Blog

Find out which part of your niche is the most mysterious – and de-mystify it for your readers. Rare information says that you are the authority on the subject. Try a series of detailed blog posts on something uncommon and exciting for best results.

Tip 2: Invite Authority Bloggers to Guest Post

The fastest way to exhibit your expertise in your niche, is to publish posts or articles by other experts in that same niche. This proves that you know them, talk to them and share ideas together. Big points for thought leadership status.

Tip 3: Become an Authority Commenter

Put aside your own projects for now and concentrate on becoming the best commenter on other people’s blogs and pages. They’ll recognize you for it, and your name will get around. Soon people will be browsing your pages instead.

Tip 4: Create a How-To Webinar

Save up and have a video webinar created, sponsored by you or your company. Then give the educational webinar away for free on Facebook. If it’s excellent, people will see the value in it, and begin to watch you – to see if you’ll give away any more.

Tip 5: Publish Social Proof Everywhere

The more people know who you are, the more they’ll respect that you are a true thought leader in your field. That’s why you need to publish social proof all over the place. Your blog, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, in articles, videos – everywhere!

Tip 6: Become a Guest Expert on Facebook or Twitter

Do your best to be invited by other authority sites to host a 1 hour Facebook or Twitter discussion for their community. People will immediately see you as a leader in your field, and it’s only a matter of time before they connect with you too.

Tip 7: Make an Awesome Video

Many business owners are afraid to be broadcast on Youtube. Don’t be. People want to see who you are, how you are – and experience your knowledge first hand. The only way they can do this, is if they watch you in a video. Instant teacher status.

Tip 8: Be a Twitter Discussion Host

Announce special discussions that are going to happen live on your Twitter page. Be a gracious host, humble and ready to learn, as well as teach. Every tweet is a reflection of who you are as a leader.

Tip 9: Set Up an Authority LinkedIn Group

If your business is involved in your niche locally, why not start a group that includes your area name. This gives you a boost in authority and will attract fans like crazy. Instead of Fordes Liquors, call your group The Miami Beverage Association/Club.

Tip 10: Be a Talking Point

What are you doing, that is making other people talk about you? Thought leaders are spoken about all the time. Put yourself out there, get included in articles, blogs, and print media – make people acknowledge your authority.

Use these ten great tips to show off your skills, attitude and disposition as a thought leader. Never give up, and continue to engage and publish all the time.
